Philosopher’s funk,
You might think it’s bunk,
But the cognoscenti and the people who know how to get down,
Even when they’re old and grey,
Up until their dying day
Will still be funky.

Philosopher’s funk,
You don’t need to get drunk
‘Cause the cognoscenti and the people who know how to get down,
Know that in an ancient system
Even atoms had their rhythm
And did get down.

Philosopher’s funk,
Well it ain’t no punk rock-and-roll
Cause the wise man’s ears hear the celestial spheres just movin’ round.
And even the Pythagoreans
Are hipper than these ghastly cretins
Who ain’t too funky.

Philosopher’s funk,
You might think it’s junk,
But the cognoscenti and the people who know how to read Plato
Know that in the world of forms
Life and movement are the norms
It’s downright funky.
